Hadith 20681
٢٠٦٨١ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن الزبير بن عدي عن الشقيق بن (العيزار) (١) قال: سألت ابن الزبير (عن) (٢) (الجعائل) (٣) (فقال) (٤): (إن أخذتها) (٥) (فأنفقها) (٦) في سبيل اللَّه، وتركها أفضل (٧).
Hazrat Shaqiq (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Hazrat Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) about the spoils of war, so he replied: If you receive it, spend it in the way of Allah, and if you do not take it, that is better. I asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), so he replied: I only take that which Allah gives me without effort.
