Hadith 20633
٢٠٦٣٣ - حدثنا وكيع نا الربيع عن الحسن قال: قال (رجل) (١) لعمر: يا خير الناس! قال: لست بخير الناس، ألا (أخبرك) (٢) بخير الناس؟ قال: بلى! يا أمير المؤمنين! قال: رجل من أهل البادية له (صرمة) (٣) من إبل (أو) (٤) غنم، أتى بها (مصرًا) (٥) من (الأمصار) (٦) فباعها، ثم أنفقها في سبيل اللَّه، وكان بين المسلمين وبين عدوهم (فذاك) (٧) خير الناس (٨).
Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once a man addressed Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) as the best person among the people. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "I am not the best person among the people. Rather, the best person among the people is the one who lives in a village, owns a herd of camels or goats, brings them to the city, sells them, spends their price in the way of Allah, and then fights between the Muslims and the enemies of the Muslims. This person is the best among the people."
