Hadith 17553
١٧٥٥٣ - حدثنا ابن عيينة عن عمرو عن يحيى بن جعدة أن رجلًا (انتسفته) (١) الجن على عهد (عمر) (٢) (فأتت امرأته عمر) (٣) فأمرها أن تربص أربع سنين ثم أمر وليه بعد أربع سنين أن يطلقها ثم أمرها أن تعتد فإذا انقضت ⦗٣٥٨⦘ عدتها تزوجت، فإن جاء زوجها خير بين امرأته والصداق (٤).
Hazrat Yahya bin Ja'dah narrates that during the time of Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), a man was taken away by jinn. His wife came to Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and explained the whole situation. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered her to wait for four years. After four years, he ordered the guardian of the husband to divorce the woman. Then he instructed the woman to observe the waiting period ('iddah). When the 'iddah is completed, she may marry. And if her husband returns, the man will be given the choice between his wife and the dowry.
