Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Sabit narrates that when people went out to the fair during the time of ignorance, not a single person remained in Mecca. One man, who was a thief, stayed behind and intended to steal a piece of gold and hid it. Later, when he entered to take the piece of gold, as he put his head inside, the door became constricted upon him. People found his head inside the House of Allah and his back outside, so they lifted him and threw him out for the dogs, and thus the House of Allah was cleansed and purified.
