Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Yazid narrates that we set out with Hazrat Ammar to perform Umrah. When we reached the place called Dhat al-Shaquq, one of our companions was bitten by a snake. We began to look for someone along the way to ask what should be done about this. Suddenly, we saw that Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud was also in the caravan. We said, "Our companion has been bitten by a snake." He said, "Set aside a specific day between yourself and your companion, and send a sacrificial animal on his behalf. When the animal is sacrificed, that person will become halal (released from Ihram) on that day. He must make up for this Umrah later."
