Hadith 2117
‘Aamir al-Sha’bi says that I asked Alqamah, “Was Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Night of the Jinn?” He said, “I asked Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), ‘Was any of you with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Night of the Jinn?’ (That is, the night when the Prophet met the jinn.) He said, ‘No, but one day we were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and then he was lost from us. So we searched for him in the valleys and mountain passes, but we could not find him. We thought that the jinn had taken him away or that someone had secretly killed him, and we spent the night in the worst state. When morning came, we saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was coming from the direction of Hira (Jabal al-Noor, a mountain between Makkah and Mina). We said, “O Messenger of Allah! Last night we lost you, and when we could not find you despite searching, we spent the night in a very bad state (without you).” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “A caller from among the jinn came to me, so I went with him and recited the Qur’an to the jinn.” Then he took us with him and showed us their traces and the traces of their fires. The jinn asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for provisions, so he said, “Every bone of an animal over which the name of Allah has been mentioned, when it falls into your hands, will be full of meat for you, and every dung of a camel will be food for your animals.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Do not use bones and dung for istinja (cleaning), for they are the food of your brothers among the jinn (and their animals).”

Hadith 2118
Ma'n says that I heard from my father, he said: I asked Masruq, "On the night when the jinn came and listened to the Qur'an, who informed the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) about this?" He said: Your father (i.e., Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated to me that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was informed of the coming of the jinn by a tree.
