Hadith 2078
Narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed through the market and he was coming to Madinah from the direction of ‘Aliyah, and people were on one or both sides of him. He (peace be upon him) saw a dead lamb with small ears or with cut ears. He (peace be upon him) took hold of its ear, then said: “Who among you would take this for one dirham?” The people said: “We would not want it for anything, even for one dirham (i.e., in exchange for anything), and what would we do with it?” He (peace be upon him) said: “Would you like it to be yours?” The people said: “By Allah, even if it were alive, it would have a defect, as its ears are very small; then it is dead, so who would take it?” He (peace be upon him) said: “By Allah, the world is more insignificant to Allah than this is to you.”
