Hadith 2029
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The Hour will not be established until the army of the Romans (Christians) descends at A’maq or Dabiq (both places are in Syria, near Aleppo). Then an army from Madinah will march towards them, and they will be the best people on earth at that time. When the two armies line up, the Christians will say: Separate from those (i.e., the Muslims) who captured our women and children and made them slaves; we will fight them. The Muslims will say: No, by Allah! We will never separate from our brothers. Then there will be a battle, and one third of the Muslim army will flee. Allah will never accept their repentance. One third will be killed, and they will be the best of martyrs in the sight of Allah. And one third will be victorious, and they will never be afflicted by any trial or calamity for the rest of their lives. Then they will conquer Constantinople (Istanbul), which will have come under the control of the Christians. (Currently, this city is under Muslim control.) They will hang their swords on olive trees and distribute the spoils of war, when Satan will call out: The Dajjal has appeared among your families in your homes behind you. So the Muslims will set out from there, but this news will be false. When they reach the land of Syria, then the Dajjal will actually emerge. When the Muslims are preparing for battle and have lined up for prayer, the time for prayer will come, and at that moment, Sayyiduna ‘Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon them) will descend and will lead them in prayer as their Imam. When the enemy of Allah, the Dajjal, sees Sayyiduna ‘Isa (peace be upon him), he will dissolve from fear just as salt dissolves in water. Even if ‘Isa (peace be upon him) were to leave him alone, he would still dissolve and perish, but Allah will cause him to be killed at the hands of Sayyiduna ‘Isa (peace be upon him), and the people will be shown his blood on the spear of ‘Isa (peace be upon him).
