Hadith 2027
Narrated from Sayyiduna Yasir bin Jabir that once a red wind blew in Kufa, so a man came whose habitual saying was, "O Abdullah bin Mas'ud! The Hour has come." Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with them) sat down, whereas before he had been reclining, and said, "The Hour will not be established until inheritance is not distributed and there is no joy over war booty (because when there will be no heirs left, who will distribute the inheritance, and when no one survives the battle, what joy will there be in war booty)." Then he pointed with his hand towards the land of Syria and said, "The enemy (Christians) will gather to fight the Muslims, and the Muslims will also gather to fight them." I said, "By enemy, do you mean the Christians?" He said, "Yes." And at that time, a fierce battle will begin. The Muslims will send forward an army that will advance to die and will not return without victory (meaning, they will go with the intention that either they will die fighting or return victorious). Then both sides will fight until night intervenes. Then the armies of both sides will return, and neither will have gained victory. And the advancing army will be completely annihilated (meaning, all its members will be killed). The next day, the Muslims will again send forward an army that will go either to die or to be victorious, and the battle will continue until night intervenes. Then the armies of both sides will return, and neither will have gained victory, and the advancing army will be completely annihilated. Then on the third day, the Muslims will send forward an army with the intention of dying or being victorious, and the battle will continue until evening, then the armies of both sides will return, neither will have gained victory, and that army will be annihilated. When the fourth day comes, all the Muslims who remain will advance, and on that day Allah Almighty will defeat the disbelievers, and such a battle will take place that no one will have seen the like of it, or no one will ever see such a battle, to the extent that a bird flying over them or over their bodies will not be able to go further before it falls dead. Out of a group of people who number a hundred, only one person will survive (i.e., ninety-nine percent will be killed and one will remain). In such a situation, what joy will there be in war booty, and what inheritance will be distributed? Then the Muslims will be in this state when they will hear news of another great calamity. A caller will come to them saying that the Dajjal (the Antichrist) has come among their families and children behind them. Upon hearing this, they will leave whatever is in their hands and set out, and will send ten horsemen as scouts (to bring news of the Dajjal). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I know the names of those horsemen and the names of their fathers, and I also know the colors of their horses, and they will be the best horsemen on the face of the earth that day, or among the best horsemen that day."
