Mukhtasar Muslim

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Iblis places his throne upon water, then sends his armies to spread corruption in the world. The one who causes the greatest trial is the closest to him. One of the devils comes and says, "I made so-and-so do such-and-such" (meaning, I made someone steal, made someone drink alcohol, etc.), so Iblis says, "You have done nothing." Then another comes and says, "I did not leave so-and-so until I separated him from his wife." So Iblis brings him close and says, "Yes, you have done a great thing." A‘mash said, "I think he embraces him."
