Mukhtasar Muslim

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: There was a man from our tribe, Banu Najjar, who had recited Surah Al-Baqarah and Al-Imran, and he used to write for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he ran away and joined the People of the Book. They welcomed him (i.e., they honored him) and said, "This was Muhammad's (peace and blessings be upon him) scribe." They were pleased to have found him. Then, after a few days, Allah Almighty destroyed him. They dug a grave for him and buried him. In the morning, they saw that his body was lying outside. Then they dug a pit and buried him again. In the morning, they saw that his body was lying outside. Then they dug a pit and buried him again. In the morning, they saw that the earth had thrown his body out. In the end, they left him lying as he was.
