Mukhtasar Muslim

´Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that` the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: No one likes to be praised more than Allah Almighty (because He alone is worthy of praise and all others have faults, so they are not deserving of praise), and for this reason Allah Almighty praised Himself. And there is no one more possessive than Allah, that is why Allah Almighty has forbidden immoralities. And no one likes to accept excuses more than Allah (meaning Allah loves it very much when sinful servants present excuses before Him and seek forgiveness for their sins), and for this reason He sent down the Book and sent the Prophets (and taught repentance).

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Allah is possessive (has a sense of honor), and the believer is also possessive. And Allah feels possessiveness when a believer does something which Allah has forbidden for him.
