Hadith 1890
Sayedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Verily, Allah the Blessed and Exalted has some angels who roam about; they have no other work except to seek out gatherings of the remembrance of Allah. When they find a gathering in which Allah is remembered, they sit there and cover each other with their wings, until the space between the earth and the sky is filled with their wings. When the people disperse from that gathering, the angels ascend and go to the heavens. Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, asks them—though He knows best—"From where have you come?" They reply, "We have come from Your servants on earth who were glorifying You (saying Subhan Allah), magnifying You (saying Allahu Akbar), declaring Your oneness (saying La ilaha illallah), and praising You (saying Alhamdulillah)." (That is, they were reciting Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illallah, and Allahu Akbar) "And they were asking You for something." Allah says, "What were they asking Me for?" The angels reply, "They were asking You for Your Paradise." Allah says, "Have they seen My Paradise?" The angels reply, "O our Lord! They have not seen it." Allah says, "Then what would their state be if they were to see it?" The angels reply, "And they were seeking Your protection." Allah says, "From what were they seeking My protection?" The angels reply, "O our Lord! From Your Fire." Allah says, "Have they seen My Fire?" The angels say, "No." Allah says, "Then what would their state be if they were to see My Fire?" The angels reply, "They were seeking Your forgiveness." Allah says (such is Allah’s grace, bounty, and kindness), "I have forgiven them, and I have granted them what they asked for, and I have given them protection from what they sought protection from." Then the angels say, "O our Lord! Among them was a certain person who is a sinner; he just passed by and sat with them." Allah says, "I have forgiven him too; these are such people that their companion is not deprived (of mercy)."
