Hadith 1810
Narrated from Sayyida Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah bin Abi Mu’it (may Allah be pleased with her), and she was among the first emigrant women who pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah, that she heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: “He is not a liar who reconciles between people and says good things with the intention of bringing about reconciliation.” Ibn Shihab said: “I have not heard that lying is permitted except in three cases: in war, in order to reconcile between people, and what a man says to his wife and a wife to her husband (for the sake of pleasantness).” And in another narration, she says: “I have not heard that lying is permitted except in three cases: (that is, in war, in order to reconcile between people, and what a man says to his wife and a wife to her husband) (for the sake of pleasantness).”
