Mukhtasar Muslim

Narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went out from her at night. So, I felt jealous (she thought that the Prophet, peace be upon him, had gone to another wife). Then the Prophet, peace be upon him, returned and saw my condition, so he said, “O Aisha! What has happened to you? Have you become jealous?” I said, “Why should I not be jealous when someone like me (a young, beautiful woman) has a husband like you?” The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “Has your devil come to you?” I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Is there a devil with me?” He, peace be upon him, said, “Yes.” I said, “Is there a devil with every human being?” He, peace be upon him, said, “Yes.” Then I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Is there a devil with you too?” He, peace be upon him, said, “Yes, but my Lord has helped me against him until he has become submissive to me (so now he does not command me to do evil).”
