Hadith 1729
‘Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I went out on a journey with Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah Bajali (may Allah be pleased with him), and he used to serve me. I said to him, “Do not serve me (because you are older).” He said, “I have seen the Ansar doing work with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so I have sworn that whenever I am with any of the Ansar, I will serve him (i.e., the way the Ansar treated you and protected you from the enemy, etc.).” And Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) was older than Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him).
