Hadith 1713
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by Sayyiduna Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was reciting poetry in the mosque. (It is understood that reciting poetry in the mosque which praises Islam, criticizes disbelievers, or encourages jihad is permissible.) Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) looked at him (angrily). Sayyiduna Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I used to recite poetry in the mosque even when a person better than you (i.e., the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him) was present." Then he looked towards Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "I ask you by Allah, did you hear from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He used to say: 'O Hassan! Reply on my behalf. O Allah, help him with the Holy Spirit (Jibreel, peace be upon him).'" Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Yes, I heard it. O Allah, You know."

Hadith 1714
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he used to say to Sayyiduna Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him): Satirize (the disbelievers), and Jibreel is with you. (To mention someone’s faults is called satire.)

Hadith 1715
Masruq says: I went to Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her), and with her was Sayyiduna Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), who was reciting a verse from his ghazal, which was a few couplets he had composed. The verse was: "Pure and intelligent, there is no accusation against them. They rise in the morning hungry for the flesh of the heedless." (Meaning, they do not backbite anyone, because backbiting is as if eating their flesh.) Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) said to Sayyiduna Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him): "But you are not like that" (meaning, you do backbite people). Masruq said: I asked Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her): "Why do you allow Hassan (may Allah be pleased with him) to come to you, even though Allah Almighty has said about him: 'The person among them who took upon himself the greater part of it (i.e., the slander against Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her)), for him is a great punishment.'" (Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) was among those who participated in the slander against Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prescribed the legal punishment for him.) Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "What greater punishment could there be than that he became blind?" And she said: "He used to defend or satirize on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) against the disbelievers." (That is why I allow him to come to me.)

Hadith 1716
Narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Satirize the Quraysh, for satire is more distressing to them than a shower of arrows. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a person to Sayyiduna Ibn Rawaha (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Satirize the Quraysh. He composed satire, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not like it. Then he sent to Sayyiduna Ka’b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). Then he sent to Sayyiduna Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him). When Sayyiduna Hassan came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: The time has come upon you that you have called this lion who strikes with his tail (meaning, he kills people with his tongue, as if he is a lion in the field of eloquence and poetry). Then he stuck out his tongue and began to move it and said: By Him Who sent you as a true Prophet, I will tear the disbelievers apart with my tongue as leather is torn apart. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Hassan! Do not be hasty! For Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) knows the genealogy of the Quraysh very well, and my lineage is also from the Quraysh, so he will separate my lineage for you. Then Hassan went to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), then returned and said: O Messenger of Allah! Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) has explained your lineage to me. By Him Who sent you as a true Prophet, I will extract you from among the Quraysh as a hair is taken out from flour. Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say to Hassan: The Holy Spirit will always help you as long as you answer on behalf of Allah and His Messenger. And Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: When Hassan satirized the Quraysh, he healed the hearts of the believers and destroyed the honor of the disbelievers. Hassan said:
You reviled Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), so I replied to you, and Allah will recompense for that. You reviled Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), who is righteous and pious, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and loyalty is his trait. My forefathers and my honor are sacrificed to protect the honor of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). If you do not see dust rising from both sides of Kada’ (the pass at the gate of Mecca), then I would lose my life. Such she-camels that will pull hard on the reins and climb up with their strength and power, on their shoulders are those spears which are thin or thirsty for blood, and our horses will come running, their mouths wiped by women with their veils. If you do not speak to us, we will perform Umrah, and victory will be achieved, and the veil will be lifted. Otherwise, be patient for the blow of that day when Allah will honor whom He wills. And Allah has said: I have prepared an army, which is the army of the Ansar, whose sport is to confront the disbelievers. And Allah has said: I have sent a servant who speaks the truth, there is no doubt in his word. Every day we are in one preparation or another, either abuse from the disbelievers, or fighting, or satire against the disbelievers. Whoever among you reviles the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), or praises him, or helps him, all are equal. Jibreel is among us, the Messenger of Allah, and the Holy Spirit, for whom there is no equal.
