Hadith 1690
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that during the blessed life of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), when anyone saw a dream, he would relate it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I also wished that I would see a dream and relate it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I was a young, unmarried boy, and during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I used to sleep in the mosque. I saw in a dream that two angels took hold of me and led me towards Hell. I saw that it was like a deep well, layered upon layers, and over it were two wooden beams like those placed over a well. There were some people in it whom I recognized. I began to say, "I seek refuge in Allah from Hell, I seek refuge in Allah from Hell," three times. Then I met another angel who said, "You have nothing to fear." I related this dream to Umm al-Mu'mineen Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her). She then related it to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Abdullah is a good man if only he would pray Tahajjud at night." Salim said that after that, Abdullah would sleep only a little part of the night (and would spend the rest in prayer).
