Hadith 1629
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I saw in a dream that people were being presented before me and they were wearing shirts. Some of their shirts reached up to their chests, and some were even shorter than that. Then 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) appeared, and he was wearing such a long shirt that it was dragging on the ground. The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is the interpretation of this? He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Religion.

Hadith 1631
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: I was asleep, and I saw myself at a well upon which there was a bucket. So I drew water from that bucket as much as Allah willed. Then the son of Abu Quhafa, that is, Siddiq Akbar (Abu Bakr), took it and drew one or two buckets, and there was some weakness in his drawing—may Allah forgive him. Then that bucket became a large bucket, and Umar bin Khattab took it, and I have never seen a strong chief among the people who drew water as Umar did. He drew so much water that the people watered their camels and took them to their resting places. Hadith 1632
`Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that` he (peace be upon him) said: I was sleeping and I saw myself in Paradise. There, a woman was performing ablution in the corner of a palace. I asked, "Whose palace is this?" (The angels) replied, "It is Umar bin Khattab's." Upon hearing this, I remembered his sense of honor, so I turned away and left. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) heard this, he began to weep, and we were all in the gathering with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "May my parents be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah! Would I be jealous of you?"

The conqueror of Persia, Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), says that Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to enter, and at that time, there were women of the Quraysh sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), talking to him, speaking a lot, and their voices were raised. When Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) called out, they got up and ran to hide. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) permission to enter, and he (the Prophet) was smiling. Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “May Allah always keep you smiling, O Messenger of Allah!” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “I was amazed at these women who were sitting with me; as soon as they heard your voice, they rushed into veils.” Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “O Messenger of Allah! They should fear you more.” Then he said to the women, “O enemies of yourselves! You fear me but do not fear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?” They replied, “Yes, you are harsher and more stern than the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “By Him in Whose hand is my soul, whenever Satan meets you on a path, he leaves that path and takes another.”

Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Among the previous nations before you, there used to be people who were "Muhaddath" (whose opinions were correct, whose intuition was right, or to whom angels would inspire). If there is anyone like that in my Ummah, it would be Umar ibn al-Khattab. Ibn Wahb said that the meaning of "Muhaddathun" is "those who are inspired."

Hadith 1636
`Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that` when Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul, the well-known hypocrite, died, his son Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), son of Abdullah bin Ubayy, came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and requested, "O Messenger of Allah, please give your shirt for my father's shroud." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave it. Then he said, "Please lead the funeral prayer for him." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to pray over him. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) held onto the garment of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Will you pray over him even though Allah has forbidden you to pray over him?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Allah has given me the choice: 'Ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them; even if you ask forgiveness for them seventy times, Allah will never forgive them' (At-Tawbah: 80). So I will ask more than seventy times." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Indeed, he was a hypocrite." Yet the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed over him. Then the verse was revealed: "Do not ever pray over any of them who dies, nor stand at his grave" (At-Tawbah: 84). (Thus, Allah approved the opinion of Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him.)
