Hadith 1612
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a Jew was selling some goods. He was offered a price, but he was not satisfied or he disliked it, so he said, "No, by Him who chose Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, above mankind." An Ansari heard these words and slapped him on the face and said, "You say that Musa (peace be upon him) was chosen above mankind while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is present among us?" The Jew went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and complained, "O Messenger of Allah! I am a protected non-Muslim (dhimmi) and under your protection, yet so-and-so has slapped me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked that person, "Why did you slap him?" He replied, "O Messenger of Allah! He said, 'By Him who chose Musa (peace be upon him) above all mankind,' while you are present among us (and your rank is higher than that of Musa, peace be upon him, so I struck him)." Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry, so much so that his anger was visible on his blessed face. Then he said, "Do not give superiority to one Prophet over another (in such a way that it diminishes the status of another Prophet), for on the Day of Resurrection, when the trumpet will be blown, everyone in the heavens and the earth will fall unconscious except those whom Allah wills (they will not fall unconscious). Then it will be blown a second time, and I will be the first to rise, and I will see Musa (peace be upon him) holding onto the Throne. I do not know whether he was exempted from falling unconscious because he had already fallen unconscious at Mount Tur, or whether he will regain consciousness before me. And I do not say that any Prophet is superior to Yunus bin Matta (peace be upon him)."
