Hadith 1589
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: If the wealth of Bahrain comes to us, I will give you this much, this much, and this much, and he indicated with both his hands (i.e., three handfuls). Then, before the wealth of Bahrain arrived, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away. That wealth came to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) after the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He ordered a caller to announce that whoever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had promised something to, or whoever had a debt upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), should come. Hearing this, I stood up and said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had promised me that if the wealth of Bahrain came, he would give me this much, this much, and this much. Hearing this, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) gave me a handful and then said to me, "Count it." I counted it, and it was five hundred. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Take double of it as well" (so it became three handfuls).
