Hadith 1543
Sayyiduna Abu Humayd (may Allah be pleased with him) says: In the Battle of Tabuk, we set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When we reached near a woman's orchard in Wadi al-Qura (a place three miles from Madinah on the way to Syria), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Estimate how much fruit is in this orchard." We estimated, and according to the estimate of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), it was found to be ten wasqs. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the woman: "Remember this count (estimate) until we return, if Allah wills." Then we moved on until we reached Tabuk. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tonight a strong wind will blow, so no one should stand up, and whoever has a camel should tie it firmly." Then it happened as he said: a strong wind blew. A man stood up, and the wind carried him away and threw him between the two mountains of (the valley of) Tay. Ibn al-Ulama, the envoy of the ruler of Aylah, came with a letter and brought a white mule as a gift for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wrote him a reply and sent a sheet as a gift. Then we returned until we reached Wadi al-Qura. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the woman about the fruit of the orchard: "How much did it yield?" She said: "It yielded exactly ten wasqs." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will go quickly, so whoever among you wishes may go quickly with me, and whoever wishes may stay behind." We set out until Madinah became visible. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is 'Taba' (Taba is a name of Madinah), and this is Mount Uhud, which loves us and we love it." Then he said: "Among the houses of the Ansar, the houses of Banu Najjar are the best (because they were the first to accept Islam), then the houses of Banu Abd al-Ashhal, then the houses of Banu Harith bin Khazraj, then the houses of Banu Sa'idah, and there is goodness in all the houses of the Ansar." Then Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) met us. Abu Usayd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Did you not hear that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the excellence of the houses of the Ansar and put us at the end?" Hearing this, Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! You mentioned the excellence of the Ansar and put us at the end." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is it not enough for you that you are among the good ones?"
