‘Umm al-Mu’minin A’ishah Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that when there was someone ill in the house, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite the Mu’awwidhat (Surah al-Falaq and Surah an-Naas) and blow over him. Then, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) himself fell ill, in the illness during which he passed away, I would blow over him and would pass his own hand over him, because his blessed hand had more blessing than my hand.
