Hadith 1445
‘Mother of the Believers, Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that a Jew from Banu Zurayq, Labeed bin A’sam, cast magic on the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), to the extent that the Prophet (peace be upon him) would imagine that he was doing something, even though he had not done it. One day or one night, the Prophet (peace be upon him) made supplication, then made supplication again, then said, “O Aisha! Do you know that Allah, the Glorious and Majestic, has informed me of what I asked Him?” Two men came to me, one sat at my head and the other at my feet (they were both angels). The one sitting at my head said to the one at my feet, and the one at my feet said to the one at my head, “What is wrong with this man?” He replied, “He has been affected by magic.” He asked, “Who has done magic on him?” He replied, “Labeed bin A’sam.” Then he asked, “In what has the magic been done?” He replied, “In a comb and the hair that falls from it, and in the fibers of a male date palm’s spadix.” He asked, “Where is it kept?” He replied, “In the well of Dhi Arwan.” Mother of the Believers, Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) said that then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went to that well with some of his companions, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “O Aisha! By Allah, the water of this well was as if it were the infusion of henna, and the date palms there were as if they were the heads of devils.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Why did you not burn it?” (meaning the hair and other things that were taken out) The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Allah has cured me, and I disliked stirring up trouble among the people, so I ordered it to be buried.”
