Hadith 1385
It is narrated from Humaid bin Abdur Rahman bin Awf that he heard from Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with them both), in the year he performed Hajj. He said on the pulpit, while holding a braided lock of hair in his hand, which was with a slave: "O people of Madinah! Where are your scholars? I heard the Messenger of Allah forbidding this (i.e., hair extensions), and he said that the Children of Israel were destroyed when their women began to do this (i.e., indulging in luxury and lust, and turning away from fighting)."
