Hadith 1372
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a gold ring in a man's hand, so he (peace be upon him) took it off and threw it away and said: "One of you intends a burning coal from the fire of Hell and then puts it in his hand." When the Prophet (peace be upon him) left, the people said to that man, "Pick up your ring and benefit from its (price)." He replied, "By Allah, I will never touch it after the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has thrown it away." (SubhanAllah, the piety and obedience of the Companions had reached such a level. If he had picked it up and sold it, there would have been no sin.)

Hadith 1373
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had a ring of gold made. When he wore it, he would turn its stone towards the palm of his hand. Then one day, he sat on the pulpit and took off that ring and said: "I used to wear this ring and turn its stone inward," then he threw it away and said: "By Allah, I will never wear it again." Seeing this, the people also threw away their rings.
