Hadith 1323
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him), who was called the Sword of Allah, informed that he went with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to Umm al-Mu’minin Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), who was the purified wife of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the maternal aunt of both Khalid and Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). There they found roasted meat of a lizard (dabb), which Maymunah’s sister, Hafidah bint Harith, had brought from Najd. Then she (Maymunah) placed that lizard before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and it was rare that any food was placed before him without it being mentioned and named (as to what it was). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached his hand towards the lizard, when one of the women present spoke up and said, “Tell the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) what has been placed before him.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah! This is a lizard.” So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) withdrew his hand. Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “O Messenger of Allah! Is the lizard forbidden?” He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “No, it is not forbidden, but it is not found in my land, so I feel a dislike for it.” Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “Then I pulled it towards me and ate it, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was watching me eat and did not stop me.”

Hadith 1324
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "We live in a land where there are many lizards, and most of the food of my family is that." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not reply to him. We said, "Ask again." He asked again, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not reply three times. Then, on the third time (or after the third time), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called him and said, "O Bedouin! Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, cursed or became angry with a group of the Children of Israel, so He transformed them into animals, and they used to walk on the earth. I do not know whether the lizard is from among those animals or not. Therefore, I do not eat it, nor do I declare it unlawful."
