Hadith 1316
‘Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed with my father, and we presented food and watbah. (Watbah is a dish made by mixing dates, cheese, and ghee.) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate it. Then dried dates were brought, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would eat them and place the pits between his index and middle fingers and throw them away. Shu’bah said: This is what I think, and I believe this is what is in the hadith, that the pits were placed between the two fingers (meaning, the pits were not mixed with the dates but kept separate). Then something to drink was brought, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank and then gave it to the one sitting on his right. Then my father held the reins of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) animal and requested: Pray for us. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Allah! Bless their sustenance, forgive them, and have mercy on them.
