Hadith 1296
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that when we used to eat with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we would not put our hands (in the food) until he started and put his hand (first). Once, we were present with him at a meal when a girl came running as if someone was driving her, and she tried to put her hand in the food, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) caught her hand. Then a Bedouin came running, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) caught his hand as well. Then he said: "The Shaytan gains power over food on which the name of Allah is not mentioned, and he brought this girl to gain power over this food, so I caught her hand. Then he brought this Bedouin for the same purpose, so I caught his hand too. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, Shaytan's hand is with their hands in my hand." And in another narration, it is mentioned that then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said "Bismillah" and began to eat.

Hadith 1297
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: When a person enters his house, and at the time of entering and eating food he mentions the name of Allah, then Satan (says to his companions and followers): "There is neither a place for you to stay here, nor food." But when he does not mention the name of Allah upon entering the house, Satan says: "You have found a place to stay." And when he does not mention the name of Allah at the time of eating as well, Satan says: "You have found both a place to stay and food."
