Hadith 1288
‘Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ukeem says that we were with Sayyiduna Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) in Mada’in when he asked for water. A farmer brought water in a silver vessel, so Sayyiduna Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) threw the vessel away and said: I am telling you that I had told him not to give me water in a silver vessel, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not drink from gold and silver vessels, and do not wear thick or fine silk, for these things are for (the disbelievers) in this world and for us (Muslims) in the Hereafter on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever drinks from silver vessels is certainly putting the fire of Hell into his belly.
