Hadith 1272
It is narrated from Zadhan, he says: I said to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), tell me about those things among the drinks from which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade. Explain them in your own language and then clarify them in our language, because your language is a bit different from ours. So he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade (making nabidh) in hantam, that is, earthen jars, in dubba’ (gourd vessels), in muzaffat, that is, pitch-coated vessels, and in naqir, that is, vessels made by hollowing out date-palm wood. And he commanded that nabidh be made in water skins.
