Hadith 1246
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Jubair that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a man throwing pebbles near him, so he forbade him and said: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade throwing pebbles and said: Indeed, it neither hunts game nor kills the enemy, but (when it hits someone) it breaks the tooth or puts out the eye. The narrator said that then Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) saw him throwing pebbles again, so he said: I narrated to you the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he forbade it, and I see that you are still throwing pebbles; now I will never speak to you again. (Throwing pebbles, date stones, or anything similar by placing it between two fingers or between the finger and the thumb and flicking it is called "khadhf.")
