Hadith 1238
Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) says that it was said to him, "Do you not go to Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) and speak to him?" He replied, "Do you think I do not speak to him? Should I not let you hear? By Allah, I have spoken to him about matters between me and him. However, I did not wish to be the first to open a matter that someone else would open before me, and I do not say to anyone who is in authority over me that he is the best among all people (i.e., I do not flatter). I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: On the Day of Resurrection, a man will be brought and thrown into Hell. His intestines will come out and he will go around with them as a donkey goes around a millstone. The people of Hell will gather around him and ask, 'O so-and-so! What happened to you? Did you not command good and forbid evil?' He will say, 'I used to command good to others but did not do it myself, and I used to forbid evil to others but did not refrain from it myself.'"
