Hadith 1232
`Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that` he (peace be upon him) said: Whoever withdraws from obedience to the ruler and separates from the community, then dies in that state, his death will be like the death of the days of ignorance. And whoever fights under a blind banner (i.e., a battle whose legitimacy is not clearly established by Shariah), becomes angry for tribalism, calls towards tribalism, or supports tribalism (and does not seek Allah’s pleasure), then if he is killed, his killing will be like that of the days of ignorance. And whoever attacks my Ummah, killing the good and the bad alike, not sparing even the believer, and does not fulfill the covenant made with anyone, then he has nothing to do with me and I have nothing to do with him (i.e., he is not a Muslim).

Hadith 1233
Nafi’ says that Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to Abdullah bin Muti’ when the incident of Harrah occurred during the time of Yazid bin Muawiyah (he sent an army to Madinah, and the people of Madinah were killed at Harrah, which is a place adjacent to Madinah, and various kinds of oppression were inflicted upon the people of Madinah). Abdullah bin Muti’ said, “Lay down a cushion or mattress for Abu Abdur Rahman (this is the kunyah of Abdullah bin Umar).” He said, “I have not come to sit with you, but rather to narrate to you a hadith which I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: ‘Whoever removes his hand from obedience will meet Allah on the Day of Resurrection with no proof for himself, and whoever dies without having pledged allegiance to anyone, his death will be like the death of the days of ignorance.’”
