Hadith 1193
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ishaq that Abdullah bin Yazid went out for the prayer of Istisqa and led the people in two rak'ahs, then supplicated for rain. He says that on that day I met Sayyiduna Zaid bin Arqam, may Allah be pleased with him, and there was only one person between me and him. I asked him, "How many expeditions did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, undertake?" He said, "Nineteen." I asked, "In how many battles did you participate with the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him?" He said, "In seventeen." I asked, "Which was the first expedition?" He said, "Dhat al-Usayr or Dhat al-Usheer (which is the name of a place. In Seerah Ibn Hisham, it is written as Ghazwah al-‘Usheera. There was no fighting in it, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went as far as ‘Usheera and then returned to Madinah. This event occurred in 2 AH, and Ibn Hisham said that the very first expedition was Waddan, at the end of the first year after coming to Madinah, and there was no fighting in it either)."
