Mukhtasar Muslim

´Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I presented myself before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Uhud, and I was fourteen years old, but he did not accept me (i.e., did not include me among those who would fight). Then I presented myself on the day of Khandaq when I was fifteen years old, and he accepted me. Nafi’ said: I narrated this hadith to Sayyiduna Umar bin Abdul Aziz when he was the caliph, so he said: This is the limit between a minor and an adult, and he wrote to his governors that whoever is fifteen years old should be given a share, and whoever is less than fifteen should be included among the children and dependents.
