Hadith 975
Abdullah bin Saib says: We went to Abdullah bin Ma’qil (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him about sharecropping (batai). He said that Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade sharecropping and ordered hiring for wages (i.e., renting for money or gold coins), and said that there is nothing objectionable in it.
