Hadith 956
Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say—and Nu’man pointed with his fingers towards both his ears (to indicate that he heard it with his own ears)—that: “Indeed, the lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, but between the two are matters that are doubtful, which many people do not know. So whoever avoids the doubtful matters has protected his religion and his honor, and whoever falls into the doubtful matters will eventually fall into the unlawful, like a shepherd who grazes his flock near a forbidden pasture; it is likely that his flock will soon graze in it. Beware! Every king has a sanctuary, and beware! The sanctuary of Allah is His prohibited things. Know that in the body there is a piece of flesh; if it is sound, the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt. Know that it is the heart.”
