Hadith 930
‘Abdur Rahman bin Wa’lah as-Sabbi (who was a resident of Egypt) narrates that he asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the juice of grapes. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that a man brought a waterskin of wine as a gift for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Do you know that Allah Almighty has made it unlawful?” The man replied, “No.” Then he whispered something to another person. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, “What did you say?” He replied, “I told him to sell it.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “The One (Allah) who has forbidden its drinking has also forbidden its selling.” (Upon hearing this) the man opened the mouth of the waterskin and poured out whatever was in it.
