Hadith 925
Abu Zubair and Saeed bin Mina narrate that Syedna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade Muhaqala, Muzabana, Muawama, and Mukhabara. (One of the narrators said that Muawama means selling the fruit of one's tree for several years.) And he forbade Istisna (i.e., taking out an unknown quantity, such as saying, "I sold you this grain but will take a little out of it," or "I sold this orchard but did not sell some of its trees," because in this case the sale becomes invalid. But if the exception is known, such as saying, "I sold this heap of grain but will take out a quarter of it," then by consensus it is valid.) And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted 'Araya.
