Mukhtasar Muslim

Narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married her, he stayed with her for three days and then said: "You are not insignificant to your husband. If you wish, I will stay with you for a week, and if I stay with you for a week, then I will stay with each of my other wives for a week (and then after all of them, your turn will come again)."

`Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says that` when (a man) marries a virgin and he already has a previously married woman in his marriage, then he should stay with the virgin for seven days (and after that, he should assign turns). And when he marries a previously married woman while he already has a virgin, then he should stay with her for three days. Khalid (the narrator of the hadith) said: If I say that this narration is marfu‘ (attributed to the Prophet), then that would also be true, but Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) used these words and said: This is the Sunnah.
