Hadith 818
Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman narrates: I asked Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), "What was the dowry of the wives of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" She replied, "The dowry of the wives of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was twelve uqiyah and one nash." (She) asked, "Do you know the amount of a nash?" Abu Salamah says, "I said, I do not know." She said, "It is half an uqiyah. This totals five hundred dirhams, and this was the dowry of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for his wives."
