Hadith 734
It is narrated from ‘Amrah bint ‘Abdur Rahman that Ibn Ziyad wrote to Umm al-Mu’minin ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: Whoever sends a sacrificial animal (as an offering) while staying at home without performing Hajj or ‘Umrah, then those things which are forbidden for a pilgrim become forbidden for him until the sacrifice is slaughtered. And I have sent a sacrificial animal, so please inform me of the ruling. Umm al-Mu’minin ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: It is not as Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) has said. I myself have tied the garlands on the sacrificial animals of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and after placing them around their necks, he sent them with my father for sacrifice, and nothing became forbidden for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) until they were slaughtered, which Allah had made lawful for him.
