Hadith 710
Narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her): She said that the Quraysh and those who followed the religion of the Quraysh used to stop at Muzdalifah and called themselves Hums. (Abu al-Haitham said that this is the name of the Quraysh and their descendants, and of Kinana and Jadila Qais, because they were strict and severe in their religion.) And the rest of the Arabs used to stop at Arafat. Then when Islam came, Allah Almighty commanded His Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to come to Arafat and stop there, and return from there. And this is the meaning of the verse: “Return from where all the people return.” __QUR_N__ __XREF_N__ __REF_N__

Hadith 711
Jubair bin Mut’im (may Allah be pleased with him) said: My camel was lost, so I went out searching for it on the Day of Arafah. Then I saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing in Arafat with the people. So I said, “By Allah, these are the people of Hums! How did they get here?” (That is, the Quraysh would not go beyond Muzdalifah.) And the Quraysh were counted among the Hums (those who would not go beyond Muzdalifah).
