Hadith 638
Sayyiduna Zirr bin Hubaish رضي الله عنه says: I asked Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b رضي الله عنه, "Your brother Abdullah bin Mas'ud رضي الله عنهما says that whoever stays awake throughout the year will attain Laylat al-Qadr." He replied, "May Allah have mercy on him. By saying this, his intention was that people should not rely on just one night (but should always remain engaged in worship). Otherwise, he knew well that it is in Ramadan, in the last ten nights, and it is the twenty-seventh night." Then, without saying 'InshaAllah', he swore an oath and said, "It is the twenty-seventh night." I asked him, "O Abu Mundhir! On what basis do you make this claim?" He said, "Because of a sign or indication which the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم informed us of, that on its morning, when the sun rises, it has no rays (but this sign appears after the night has ended)."
