Mukhtasar Muslim

Narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever dies and has (missed) fasts to make up, his heir should fast on his behalf.

Sayyiduna Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a woman came and said, "I had given a slave girl in charity to my mother, and now my mother has passed away." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Your reward is established, and now that slave girl has come back to you due to inheritance." She said, "O Messenger of Allah! My mother had one month of (missed) fasts; should I fast on her behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes, fast on her behalf." She said, "My mother had not performed Hajj; should I perform Hajj on her behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Perform Hajj on her behalf as well."
