Hadith 594
It is narrated from Abu Atiyyah that he said: I and Masruq went to Umm al-Mu'minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her), and Masruq said to her: O Umm al-Mu'minin! Among the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), there are two persons who do not fall short in goodness and virtue. One of them breaks his fast at the earliest time and also prays at the earliest time, while the other delays both breaking the fast and the prayer. Umm al-Mu'minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: Who is the one who breaks his fast early and prays at the earliest time? We said: He is Abdullah (ibn Mas'ud) (may Allah be pleased with him). Umm al-Mu'minin said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do the same.
