Hadith 545
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that some companions came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! The wealthy have taken all the reward, for they pray as we pray, fast as we fast, and give charity from their surplus wealth." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Has not Allah made for you means of charity? Every tasbih (saying Subhan Allah) is charity, every takbir is charity, every tahmid (saying Alhamdulillah) is charity, every saying of (La ilaha illallah) is charity, enjoining good is charity, forbidding evil is charity, and fulfilling the right of one's spouse is charity." The people said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! If one of us fulfills his desire (i.e., has relations with his wife), is there reward for him in that?" He (peace be upon him) said, "Do you not see, if he were to fulfill it in a forbidden way, would he not bear a sin? Likewise, when he fulfills it in a lawful way, he will have a reward."
