Hadith 468
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was shrouded in three white sheets made of Sahul cotton. There was neither a shirt nor a turban among them, and people had a doubt about the Hullah. The reality is that the Hullah was bought for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he might be shrouded in it, but then it was not used, and he was shrouded in three sheets made of white Sahul. And Abdullah bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) took the Hullah and said, “I will keep it and I will use it as my own shroud.” Then he said, “If Allah had liked it, it would have been used for the shroud of His Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him),” so he sold it and gave its price in charity.
