Mukhtasar Muslim

Umm al-Mu’minin Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) when his eyes had become fixed (i.e., he had passed away). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) closed his eyes and said: “When the soul is taken away, the eyes follow it.” The people from his household began to weep, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Pray only for good for yourselves, for the angels say ‘Ameen’ to what you say.” Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed: “O Allah! Forgive Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him), raise his rank among those who are rightly guided, be the guardian of his family who remain, make his grave spacious and full of light for him. O Lord of all the worlds! Forgive us and forgive him.”
